GI Joe 1975 #8025 AT Set Atomic Man
Mike Powers Original
Okay...anyone alive and over 6 in the mid-70s could not escape the
exploits of Steve Austin - The Six Million Dollar Man. One of the
highest ranking fantasy/sci-fi shows of the mid to late 70's, the show
detailed the exploits of the worlds "First Bionic Man". An extremely
popular show, it's easy to envision some Product Development manager at
Hasbro scratching his and going "hmm....bionic man"! Well, low and
behold (and much an embarrassment to many collectors today), Mike Powers
came along to fulfill the dream of every G.I. Joe enthusiast to have their
own Bionic Man. Of course, to avoid being sued they decided to call
him the "Atomic Man" but let's face it - he even has a "Atomic" eye - just
like ole Steve. (We do wonder how in the heck having only one
Bion..err..Atomic leg - what's he do? Hops at great speed??) Not
extremely popular with collectors, today, Mike Powers truly gets little
respect.
