#0850 1965 Boxed Barbie Brunette Side Part Bubble Cut
This listing is for a 1965 side part bubble cut Barbie. In 1965, the Side
Part Bubble Cut Barbies were released. They have lighter baby blue eyes and
eye-shadow than their predecessors. They usually have a crosshatch woven
side-part on the right side of their head with the hair on the right curling
up into the doll's right temple. The dolls will have "Midge
/ Barbie" and "Patented" on their rear. Additionally with this
example, Mattel would move away from their sold boxes - these must have been
a very small trial period as we've seen very few. The box has the same
graphics - but is made of a thin "fold over" material, both the lid and
bottom exhibit this. The box is much more fragile than the standard one and
is easily damaged - probably why Mattel quickly abandoned the idea.
