Bonanza
1966 8" Outlaw American Character Figure Adam Cartright Palitoy Boxed
This listing is for an original boxed action
figure of one "Outlaw" figure. The story goes - and it's easy to assume
it's accuracy by the likeness of the figure - is that this figure was
originally produced to be the oldest son of the clan - one Adam Cartright.
However, before it was released, Pernell Roberts (said actor who portrayed
Adam) left the show. One can easily imagine in the manufacturer's meeting
room with the product managers "Pernell Roberts did WHAT??? Oh, I know.
"Let's just slap a mustache on the figure and we'll call him an outlaw!".
This figure was put out by American Character in 1966. Figure measures
about 8" tall. There are not many collectables for Bonanza....The artwork
on the box is just gorgeous. The figure...well could have been a little
nicer looking. Hard to find!
In the U.K., Palitoy marketed and sold the Bonanza figures. The boxes are
thinner, end flap style in this series.
