Revell ENDANGERED
ANIMALS 1974 Aurora Prehistoric Scenes Competitor Mountain Gorilla Built Up
By the early 1970's, there's no way anyone
could compete with Aurora in the figural model kit arena. They had the
market hands down. Aurora's Prehistoric Scenes series was introduced in
1972 and sported individual kits that could then be added to existing ones
to create a huge diorama. Pyro had earlier created some prehistoric
dinosaur kits - but they were poorly done and didn't last long. In order
to compete as best they could. Revell decided to release the ENDANGERED
ANIMALS series. These kits didn't connect to make a scene as Aurora's
dinosaurs had - and the market didn't take well to them as they didn't
last long and are fairly hard to find today. The series included:
White Rhino
Mountain Gorilla
Komodo Dragon
California Condor
Black Panther
Polar Bear
This listing is for a built up of Revell's Mountain Gorilla from the
hard-to-find ENDANGERED ANIMALS
series.
