The Flintstones was the first prime-time animated series - and the first really aimed at the entire family.  With a basic series premise being a homage to the Honeymooners,  the Flintstones was a show the whole family could enjoy.  It ran for 6 year and in syndication ever since.  An interesting historical footnote is the television commercial of Fred and Barney taking a break from watching the girls work by relaxing and taking a Winston's smoking break!
