Fleischer Magnetic Telescope Animated 1941
"They can be a great people, Kal-El, if they wish to be. They only lack
the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for
good, I have sent them you - my only son."
Jor-El (Superman's father)
"In the early 1940's, Max Fleischer's Superman cartoons gave the Man of
Steel an Art Deco flair and plenty of robots to defeat!" - Voyages
Extraordinaires. And in the mid, 1990's - the now defunct Warner Bros
stores were going strong - and produced some fine limited edition items
for their in-store galleries. One of the limited releases by them was a
set of animation cels based on the wonderful Max Fleischer cartoons of the
1940's. Each cell is 16 field hand-painted and bears the official seals of
DC Comics and Fleischer Studios, Inc. Signed by Myron Waldman - one of the
two lead animators of the original series! It's mounted against a
lithographic background and comes beautifully matted with a certificate of
authenticity. Each limited edition cel was created using the same methods
that were used in creating actual Fleischer Studios production cels.
Framed it measures 25" x 22" (63.5cm x 56cm). Original retail was $590 and
was limited to 500 signed editions.
