GI Joe 1967 1971 Takara New GI Joe
German SS Officer Boxed
With the home grown popularity of GI Joe, Hasbro had a great
licensing opportunity on it's hands. And they took advantage of it. They
licensed the name and idea - and provided much of the equipment - to
different toy companies in different countries throughout the world.
Initially, in some countries, there was little differentiation in the line
to their American cousin other than the name. But in some countries
the figures were vastly different even in the onset - while other countries
expanded the line to suit their own sensibilities - and even continued the
line long past the time Hasbro USA had cancelled it. It's interesting to
note that Takara, under Hasbro's license, was the only licensee world wide
to use the German Nazi symbol (we'll avoid it's name as modern political
correctness has created some strong filters and censorship of it). All other
licensees and Hasbro would avoid it.
This is an all original German SS officer. To the best of our ability,
we understand he originally came with:
- Belt, waist
- Belt, shoulder
- Pistol with Holder
- Decals (for German symbol armband, medal)
