GI Joe 1964 MIB 7800 Action Pilot Triple TM Golden Rod Flight Suit
The original GI Joe action figure was marketed as an action figure in
basic military fatigues purchased in a 2 part style box - accompanying him were
various military outfits one could purchase separately to dress him in. This
is one of the four military branches that were represent - the American Pilot-
or as Hasbro put it: G.I. Joe Action Pilot. Of the four branches, the
pilot is easily the scarcest and most difficult to come by today. It came
in a 2 part box and included the following:
- Pilot Jumpsuit (Tagged "G.I. JOE T.M.
HASBRO HONG KONG®")
- Combat Boots, Tall Black
- Dog Tag
- Pilot Cap, Blue (Incised "G.I. JOE T.M.
HASBRO® MADE IN THE U.S.A.")
- Air Force Insignias
- Division Insignias
- Air Force Field Manual (Thin Style - manuals that came on cards were about a
1/2 thicker and did not fit inside the box)
As with all things Joe, there were many variations throughout the years.
If you're reading this, odds are you already know what Triple TM means - we'll
leave the full details for a discussion elsewhere. Let's just say that the
Triple TM box was the VERY first edition of the pilot box...and was only
available for a few months in 1964. Additionally, the golden rod flight
suit was around for an extremely short time and is one of the most sought after
outfits. |

Item Condition (Specific)
|
|
Amazing condition!!! You should see this Golden Rod outfit - no decal staining, the colors just pop out on it. A beautiful, early BRASS RIVET figure - thiCk eyebrows with mascara!, scullpted biceps. tight joints, looks like 11 of 13 rivets brass (the two wrist ones appear to be just steel),. Box is C9 or better, bright colors, no splits. Boots are 1st issue, 'hong kong' sole verison (typical hardening - especially with the black boots. Just dunk them in a bit of hot water and they'll be pliable enough to put on). Early all TM manual. Early typed instructions. This one's a crown in any collection!! |
