G.I. Nurse Action Girl When one looks back at the mid 1960s
market, one wonders WHAT the product development department at Hasbro was
thinking when they came up with the idea (and implemented production) of a nurse
for G. I. Joe. Did they feel that boys would actually purchase a DOLL for
Pete's sake - just because it was associated with a soldier collection? Or
were they trying to tap into the girl market - prying those "girl" dollars away
from Mattel and the Barbie® line? Either way, we
doubt developing the second ugliest doll in the world (the honor of worst HAS to
go to Gilbert's Honey West) was a brilliant execution of the idea! As
history shows, the execution was unsuccessful - and was very short
lived. The Nurse is a very difficult to find figure today. And,
unlike the service men, Hasbro developed no sets or accessories or various
packaging schemes for her. She was only marketed in a large "Soldier of
the World" style window box. Here's what came with her in that
box:
- G.I. JOE® Nurse Figure
- Nurse Uniform
- Nurse Cap
- Nurse shoes
- Stockings
- Shoulder Bag (RARE white bag ONLY available with nurse!)
- Crutches
- Bandages
- Splints
- Stethoscope
- Plasma Bottle
- Arm bands (Rare snap style ONLY available with nurse)
